MEET YOUR CHEF
Sandy Dee Hall is a chef, writer, and teacher living in New York City. He grew up as a ward in the state of Connecticut. He went to Villanova University. He is best known for his restaurant Black Tree, located in the Lower East Side. Sandy is a Michelin and New York Times-rated chef. He has served as a consultant for many of the world’s largest hospitality groups, including Marriott, Club Quarters, and Moxy Hotels. Sandy is one of the world’s most innovative chefs, always pushing the boundaries of food and its use.
Sandy runs a non-profit, Sourc[ed], established to teach urban youth about food and give proper access. He has taught at multiple schools throughout New York City. He is a writer who has been featured in various literary journals, including Mad Scientist Journal, Archipelago, and McSweeney’s.
Millions of viewers have watched Sandy’s TV appearances on the Food Network. He also has appeared on an eight-episode Netflix cooking series, Snack Vs. Chef, where he was a finalist. He has been featured in over 50 news articles about his cooking and work.
